Downtown Rentals is a small family-owned business. It's run by David Morris, a Licensed Motor Vehicle Trader, with help from family members and a team of mechanics.
The office is at my family home in Hillsborough, about 10 minutes drive from the airport and I have a storage yard in Onehunga where I park and store spare cars and vans. That's the address you see below.
The business has been running since 1984 when I started up in the centre of downtown Auckland city - hence the name of the business, Downtown Rentals. Rents became so high there that we decided to cut costs by shifting closer to the airport. It just seemed to make sense to work from an office at home.
So, if you want to work with a big company we are not it - people when booking often ask if they get a reservation number and are surprised when they are told "No, no numbers. I know you by name." What you will get is personal service - you have the knowledge that if there's a problem of any sort you won't have to deal with some dummy in a call centre somewhere overseas, someone who frankly doesn't give a damn.
